Blind Spot Assist System upgrades your existing Blind Spot Monitor. It adds steering input to guide your car back into the lane. It does this when it detects an approaching vehicle in the next lane.
Requirement: Blind Spot Monitor.
This system warns drivers about vehicles to their side. Those vehicles cannot be seen in the wing mirror. Here is what the system does and how it works.
The term ‘blind spot’ describes a point in the wing mirror. At that point, another moving vehicle momentarily disappears from view. Blind spots can be large. They can easily block another car, motorbike, cyclist, or pedestrian from your sight.
We learn to check the blind spot during driving lessons. We also check it during the emergency stop procedure. Failing to check both nearside and offside blind spots can lead to a test failure. Over time, when changing lanes, some drivers suddenly discover an unseen vehicle beside them. Worse still, they may have an accident.
Key features of the Blind Spot Assist System:
-
Warns the driver about vehicles in adjacent blind spots.
-
Assists with steering to return the vehicle to its lane.
-
Requires an existing Blind Spot Monitor as a prerequisite.
-
Activates only when an approaching vehicle is detected in the next lane.
