SOFTWARE CARE GUIDE
Modern JLR ownership is battery health, software discipline and documented configuration.
BATTERY FIRST
- —Low battery voltage causes more ghost faults than any failing module — a maintainer is the cheapest diagnostic tool you own.
- —Short trips never replenish what start-stop and quiescent loads consume; give the car a proper charge weekly.
- —Before any coding session, a healthy battery is the difference between success and a bricked module.
SOFTWARE DISCIPLINE
- —Note your software levels before a dealer visit; ask for them back afterwards.
- —Decline blanket 'updates to latest' — selective updates preserve stable modules.
- —Keep your activation records so features can be restored after service.
STORAGE & TRAVEL
- —Use transport mode for shipping and long parking.
- —Re-enable every feature deliberately after storage, not one warning light at a time.
- —Before a long trip: battery check, full-system scan, and a copy of your configuration.
