CODING OR RETROFIT?
Half the jobs that arrive as 'coding questions' are hardware questions — and the reverse.
HOW TO TELL
- —If the hardware is present and only the menu is missing, it is a coding job.
- —If nothing physical exists — no camera, no module, no wiring — coding cannot conjure it.
- —If hardware was fitted and now behaves oddly, it is usually a configuration job.
THE SMART ORDER
- —VIN check to see what the car believes it has.
- —Diagnostic sweep to confirm the hardware is healthy and present.
- —Then — and only then — coding, retrofit, or both.
COMMON MIX-UPS
- —CarPlay requests on incompatible infotainment units.
- —Tow-bar wiring fitted without the trailer module.
- —Retrofit cameras that need calibration, not activation.
