Owners often picture CarPlay activation as downloading something to the car. Nothing is downloaded. The capability is already compiled into the infotainment unit; the vehicle configuration simply says it is not allowed to run. Activation changes that answer.
Step one: compatibility, not hope
The unit's hardware revision decides everything. Two identical-looking dashboards can carry different boards, and only a VIN-level check tells them apart. Any provider who quotes before checking is guessing with your money.
Step two: the session
Through an ENET connection we read the current configuration, adjust the relevant entries, and let the unit restart into its new menu. We then test calls, audio hand-off and navigation switching — because an activation that has not been exercised is a claim, not a result.
Step three: the record
You receive a summary of what changed. If a dealer update later resets the feature, the same session can be re-applied in minutes. That is the difference between an activation and a favour.
